| It's Official...I'm now a Mac-Girl, but will never be a "Mac-Snob" | | |
| Nothing beats a summer lightning/thunderstorm in Big Sky Country! My date of departure, September 12th, is finally drawing closer! Yea, God! I will be in England in less than 2 months! There is so much to think about in preparation, so I tend to avoid it all... | | |
| FYI: My Birthday's on Wednesday, June 27th! I accept cash, check, and all major credit cards...j/k | | |
| I had an amazing time, both in Portland and then Seattle! In Seattle, we worked at a men's homeless shelter/recovery house. Our team's big task of the week was gutting and re-doing a bathroom. I didn't really get too involved in this project (construction's not really my thing) so I helped out with some of the other women from my group by folding/sorting clothes, cooking in the kitchen, and labeling some brochures. BUT I did want to contribute somehow to our bathroom project, so the guys had me paint around the urinal...definitely the smelliest job and I'll leave it at that. One day we made over a hundred lunch bags and took them to a park to hand out to the homeless. They had told us that this was a park where you could see a drug deal at any moment of the day. There were men and women in sleeping bags throughout the park and on the park benches, while business men in their suits would walk right by without even looking. I believe that most become homeless because of their addiction to drugs and alcohol. I had the opportunity to pray with a few of them, but was often at a loss as to what to pray for. I pray that I was Jesus to them, that I was a light that shown in the dense darkness. Amen. | | |
